Whitey Mitchell - Senior Manager

Whitey is a Senior Manager with Hutcheson & Co. having joined the firm in 2018 after 7 years gaining experience and designation with another local CPA firm in Victoria. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science at West Virginia Wesleyan College and more recently studied Accounting at Camosun College. He completed the CPA BC Professional Education Program, passing the CFE in September of 2017. Whitey is also licensed as an Enrolled Agent by the US Department of the Treasury and is federally authorized to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.

Whitey specializes in providing tax planning and preparation advice to individuals and businesses particularly with a cross-border focus, as well as having significant experience in Canadian trusts and estates and non-resident filings. His professional background and experience is extensive and varied, including banking and financial services management, property management, political campaigning, and research. His varied professional experience as well as having lived and worked in two countries and
four states/provinces has given him invaluable insight into a variety of complex situations that clients may encounter.

When he is not at the office he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children in the great outdoors, traveling, and learning something new and useful. He is proud to be active in his community serving as Treasurer for multiple groups and charities (Norvic Toastmasters Club, Grumpy Taxpayer$ of Greater Victoria, The ArtsREACH Society) as well as involved in local community theatre groups and supporting his wife’s acting endeavors.
